Dressings & Bandages
The most common treatment for wounds is the use of a dressing to cover the wound and reduce infection risk and the rate of secondary injuries.
Bandages have not developed significantly in the last 50 years. Traditional wound dressings are economical, however they stick to wounds and cause damage when removed, setting back the healing process. More modern wound dressings maintain temperature, humidity and stimulate wound healing while protecting the wound from bacteria and the resulting infections.
Modern wound dressings may also contain pharmacologically active substances such as:
Antibiotics
Non-steroidals
Anti-inflammatories
Analgesics
Local anesthetics
Medicines
And much more.
